Welcome to July's Technique Tute,
Image

I thought we'd do something nice and simple, but that looks really good on your layout.. Making some Flowers...

Image

This works really well with the paper that is a little heavier like the textured papers from Authentique and MME
Image

After choosing your paper, take your scalloped circle punch or die and punch out 8 flowers.
I have used one of the mini Tattered floral dies, sorry ladies i think i got the last one, but i'm sure Lee-Anne and Danny have more on the way!
but you could also use a scalloped circle punch.
If you don't have a circle punch, any of these Spellbinders sets
Petite Scalloped Circles Large,
Classic Scalloped Circles Large,
Big Scalloped Circles Large
would be fantastic.. ( and you'd be able to make your flowers in all different sizes)

Image

Next give your pieces and extremely light mist with water.. it only has to be very light, we don want them really wet at all.. its just to help the paper scrunch up easier.

Image

When you have given them a light mist gather them all up on top of one another in a pile.. you can play with them a little so the petals are all in different places, then carefully pierce a hole through the middle and fasten with a brad.

Image

Next cones the fun part.. take one punched out or die cut piece at a time and carefully scrunch them up around the brad.

Image

Keep going until you've scrunched all your eight layers..
You should then have a little scrunched up piece that looks like this.

Image

Next we carefully slightly open and work the scrunched up pieces back out again, until you have a flower shape.. You can play with it until you're happy with how it looks..

This also works fantastic with the Tim Holtz Glassine paper, I've used a scalloped circle punch with this one, and have used slightly more layers, with this one I used 12, to show you how different you can make them look..

I hope you enjoyed my quick little scrunched flower tute :)

I have the tattered florals die and rarely use it! Will definitely have a play with some flowers.
