i heard it on facebook this weekend funny that thought, a bunch of friends keen scrapbooker, stamping and card making ladies went on a retreat this weekend
Weekend crop, sounds like they picked the perfect weekend Gis! lol! Apparently a lot of people don't know about NSD, but it may have been started by CM.
Yeah, cyber cropping, challenges, badges for different things, prizes, online make and takes. Usually the manufacturers get in on it also and have free printables on their sites, challenges etc. Its amazing what they set up!
It would be so cool if we could do that here! Usually pulls in quite a crowd. The site I was on this weekend had the boards hopping like crazy. They had a badge for buying stuff too, so that was a draw for a lot of people (I only collected 3 badges myself) but it was so much fun just discussing every aspect of scrapping under the sun with everyone.
I have often considered it, but I think the problem with the Aussie stores is the distance we are from the Manufacturers - I have seen what they do in USA to support the stores etc and it is great, but the cost of the freight to get all those giveaway prizes etc out to Australia and then on to you guys is prohibitive.
We do some stuff in store that weekend so running an online cropping event on the net at the same time as having a pumping weekend in store for us is a bit hard - will have to let you keep playing on the USA sites for now Helen I am afraid (hate losing you to the USA)- but thanks for asking
Tell you what - when everyone is participating in all our monthly challenges that the girls already put a LOT of hard work into I will see if they are keen to do some extra challenges for NSD
Totally understand Lee-Anne. I've been in scrapbook/craft marketing since 2004, so do get the stuff with the manufacturers etc. And I get what you mean by the hard work also - I was on a magazine dt for a couple of years and been on other DT's, so I know just how hard it can be to organize.
But, there are online printables that don't cost anything. People can download from manufacturer sites too, and it can be something as simple as saying - go to this site, create a layout with these *whatevertheyare* and show us. I know some people, I may be able to help arrange prizes LOL! Just a thought.
And that other site I was on I've been a member of for years, so its really only that one time a year where I would be totally lost to Australia! Even my family lost me this year.
LOL at your family losing you Helen - the free download challenge is a good idea - girls how many of you have colour printers to use these free downloads?

Sorry, not me for the printing out - it kinda figures into the digital /hybrid style - my mind doesnt seem to bend that way....
got to have the 'stuff' in front of me
We used to have cybercropping weekends here at ST and they were huge weekends... then FB came along.
Once upon a time the giggle was 'since scrapping - the ironing doesnt get done' .... and now its - since FB, scrapping doesnt get done
I imagine what Lee-Anne is saying is that if we had bigger numbers playing our weekly challenges - it would spur on doing cybercropping weekends for special occasions...
Mandy you hit the ball our of the ballpark with that summary - exactly what it is - unfortunately facebook has lost all forums a load of participants and I dont know that cybercrop weekends would work anymore but if we have enough interest shown I would be happy to give it a try
Its a shame fb has taken that. What a bummer huh, but I know a few sites have had problems with getting people involved, and the marketing strategies have had to become more and more creative to draw people, though there are other ideas.
Still, get exactly what you mean. I for one would love to become more involved in challenges. I've never really done it much before, the one here was really only my second. I've not done any scrapping for about 2 years, so I'm a bit rusty, and these are great for mojo.
I'd definitely be in for a scrapbooking retreat weekend! ScrapTherapy could lead the way with this. I would LOVE to go. I'm in Perth, but willing to go to the other side of Oz for a scrapbooking retreat!
