Howdy Guys, So glad to see you all back. I hope you've all been well. I thought I'd jump right in this week and show you how I've made the collaged backgound that I've used on my Blog Sketch Challenge example. ![]() This is a really fun and easy technique. Its a great way to use up left over bits and pieces, or to just have fun ripping up all your new paper.. ( yes it is hard to do at first, but it's ohhhh so fun!!!) After you have chosen your backgound paper or cardstock, choose the actual paper you would like to use for your background, and rip it up into various sizes and shapes, then arrange these onto your background. ![]() Glue them down well with a good glue. Mod Podge would be perfect for this. I also gave them a very light top coat with the mod podge to seal them and make sure they were stuck down. ![]() Once your glue has dried we can begin the fun part. Using a waterbased marker, like the Tim Holtz Distress Marker, or Marvy Le Plume II scribble on various parts of your sealed paper and then rub it in with your finger.(I've used a soft cloth, but it wipes away to much, so I re did it with my finger.) ![]() ![]() It will give you a smudged accent to the areas you have coloured. ![]() The next layer we will add is some paint. Using a dry brush ( don't dip your paint brush in water before you use it) brush some paint around your collaged background. You can use any type of paint - a paint dabber or crackle paint. I have used crackle paint - it will give you an extra bit of texture as well. ![]() The last layer I've added in some random stamping in various areas with a background stamp. We dont want to use the whole stamp, so holding the stamp with your fingers just lightly roll and press areas of the stamp onto your collaged background. ![]() And there you have it, one collaged backgound. The die cut hearts I did the same way, just using a scrap piece of card stock, and then cut the hearts. If you have a go at making your own collaged background we'd love for you to share it with us and upload it into the gallery Products Used: MME - Oilver Yellow Honey Paper MME- Ruby Pink Lace MME- Ruby Collage Stripe Tim Holtz Symphony Tissue tape Tim Holtz Distress Markers Ranger Snow Cap paint dabber Tim Holtz Mini Hearts - Mini movers and Shapers Die set |

Love what you have done with this Karen - may just have to have a play - and what a stunning photo of Ashey - I love how you have used the same photo and made it look different by the way it is cropped and then framed one and not the other - at least I think you have |
