Using the reverse side of this Reminisce paper for my background, I made a frame for a 5x7 or 4x6 photo from some white cardstock and smaller scraps.

Image

I cut a rectangle 7" x 9" from white cardstock and then measured in 1 1/4" from the outer edge to get the width for my frame and cut out the centre part. By running over the frame with a sand coloured ink pad I took the "whiteness" off the cardstock. I cut scraps of 3 different papers up into rectangles of different lengths and all roughly the same width of 1/2".
Image

I then started laying my rectangles around the inside edge leaving a little bit of an edge of cardstock.
Image

Then go around the outside edge, this time putting the rectangles right on the outside edge of the frame. They can go over the edge and be trimmed up later.
Image

I doodled a border around the edge of the rectangles - black on the lighter ones and white on the brown ones.
Image
Image

Because I ended up with a little too much pink showing through on one of my papers in the rectangles, I ended up punching out some small pink circles to decorate the tree with and added a pink bow to the front of the sleigh. There is also an added aqua bow on top of the red bow on the present just to bring it all together a bit more.
Image

I've put some cardboard under my frame to lift it up a bit and also only attached it to the LO at the bottom of the frame to be able to slip a 5x7 photo underneath. You could also simply pop in a 4x6 pic and have a edge of the background paper showing through. I've also added some buttons to the frame and stamped some brackets for a journalling box.

Have fun .................
I'll draw a name from the entries in the gallery folder at the end of January 2012 and pop a little RAK in the mail to the winner.
