I have a confession on the crab- it is dead - Mandy found it on the beach and played first, then Danny made a pretend whole for me to photograph it beside
Great way to get a good shot though - find the dead animals
I was going to ask if it had expired as he is missing some of his parts and not likely that those little fellows would stick around for a close up. The hole was confusing.

Yet, still a great shot! When danny was poking a hole in the sand and then sprinkling the sand around it - I was wondering what on earth he was doing....
I didnt stick around for the actual shot.....so when i saw this uploaded this morning........I could see how it all 'came' together!!!
I was walking ahead shooting this, while that was going on....

had a play with my 100mm macro lens with extension tubes.
settings are f8 shutter 1/160th ISO 2000
the reason why the ISO is so high is that the extension tubes fit between the lens and the camera. So the amount of light entering the lens and reaching the sensor inside the camera is greatly reduced. To compensate the loss of light I had to make the sensor more sensitive to the light that could make it into the camera so the shutter could work faster. The faster the lens the less chance of image blur by the camera vibrating. I did use the tripod as a monopod to steady the camera as much as I could.

I found a rain moth on my net curtain in the laundry yesterday. Perfect subject for macro. This is the spot on one of it's wings. IRL its fairly small, about the size of a top of a pen lid. (the dot that is lol)
taken for my Camera Club's 'Patterns in Nature' section for this month.
