Gypsy. that last one is the rippa shot. Can you crop it a bit so you lose some of the sky and on the right side of the falls. keep the crop in a 6x4inch format and that should bring out the falls more in the image and make them more powerful. and I even see a hint of sun in it. I am so stoked that you really are getting out there this month and giving it your all.

thanks Tiff I know nothing about editing at all photobucket only seems to make things smaller I use flickr for an other froum but I can't work it out here can't down load anything till i get my new computer found out photoshop cost do you know any good free programs ?

picasa is supposed to be good.

gyspy. just had a quick play in Photobucket with your image (I hope you don't mind)

I used the auto correct which brightened up the exposure just a touch and cropped it.

This seems to work for web resolution images. )

I use Picasa Gypsy, it's free & it's pretty easy to use too - a lot more user friendly than photoshop!

First Thing - Picasa - fantastic - cant fault it - would highly recommend it - there are some functionality online associated with the program that you can pay for to get better usage out of it but really for standard cropping, straightening etc - all in the free download

Tiff - you were right on the access to the falls for the photo - from the bottom up works much better - you can do that at Millaa Millaa and that shot is always good

This is the other photo I took of the same falls from the same angle with the grass photo border - which I just do because I like to have a foreground

thanks everyone I will look into picasa when I get my new computer up and running hopefully in about 4 weeks till then I don't think I will be trying to do to much on this as its was to frustating and stressful

No I don't mind you haveing a play with the photo Tiff I spend 30 minutes trying to get the edit to load and was getting mad so I gave up ( got a few thousand more here if you feel working on them )

Lee-Anne. If you're trying to slow down the shutter to give the waterfalls that blurred look, try ISO 100 so the shutter needs to be open longer to expose properely. But you'll need a tripod for this . The focal length means how much you zoomed in or out using that lens. You wont get that really milky look as you'll need to slow the shutter for 2 seconds or more and you'll need a filter with that, but worth working your way up to that. Its lots of fun.

Hey Gypsy. How about you load up your one best one for the day rather than lots and lots. Tell me how you got it, and what you reckon you could do better next time round. Self critiquing is tricky because you are emotionally involved with your picture and you know what happened before and after that shot. There will always be a bit of you in your image, because there is the reason why you took it in the first place. And seeing what emotions it can evoke in other people will tell you if you're shot is a good one or a great one!



great to see the sheep off centre which is balanced out with the shed in the background. And the sheep are looking at you!! A bit of a shadow cast by the black sheep down its neck.

I reckon if you had stepped forward a bit and got green knees by kneeling it would have worked well. I'm aiming to eliminate that grass foreground all together. And the lower angle may have hidden the shiny shed roof.

Windmill.... mmmm ..... my lastest favourite subject atm. Personally I would have moved to the right, probably be on the other side of that fence, composed the windmill on the left of centre of the viewfinder so the head is looking into the shot, not facing out of the frame. does that make sense?

Its not too late in the day Gypsy. You've got the glow that happens in the 'golden hour' which is about the last hour of light before sunset and the first hour of light after sunrise. All this needs is a stronger subject as a landscape. Is that a track in the middle distance that sweeps around and up to the shed. Use that as your leading line to the shed. The foliage on the left doesn't really add to the shot tho. For that golden glow, you may need to tripod or rest the camera on something as the shutter slows down to catch enough of the fading light. and use your timer delay button on your camera to reduce vibrations too.

Gypsy. often the worst weather can give you the magic in your pictures. The hardest part is getting out of the house to go get 'em. Be a storm chaser!!!!

I like those footsteps that help draw my eye from front to back of the shot Gypsy. There's just a little bit of beach clipped on the right side of the frame to give it that nice rounded feel. And you've got cloud in the sky to give it interest. well done.



the sun came out for this one which gave you vibrant greens. love that. Praps crop the image just above the lump of seaweed and its makes a busy image into a pleasing pano. (Panoramic). I do like the winding steps.



great to see the horizon not being stuck in the middle of the image. Its always more interesting if its one third down the image (less sky, more foreground) or one third up the image.(less foreground and more sky)

now this is nearly a corker. all it needs its to have the sea wall completely in shot as it sweeps around. this is a good shot mate. try turning the camera to the landscape orientation, and place the seawall to the left so the right side of the image can breathe. This one would be worth having another go.
