Hi Tiff you have been so supportive of my efforts thanks I was hoping I could ask you if there are any tips for talking pictures of waterfalls I am hopeing I might get to go in the next coulpe of weeks I have no idea what the acces is so I might just end up frustarted but if I can get to go I would like to try and get some good picutres

none none and none Tiff I have a basic point and shoot olympus fe 170 and no tirpod as I can't manage to move one around

I only need some very basic directions as I am not sure i can even get close to the falls and I have limted movement in my arms as well so I could well be a lost casue please don't go putting to much time into this

righto Gypsy. That symbol of the hand shaking that's on the dial. Is that like a vibration/movement stabiliser??

while I'm finding out some stuff, can you 'google image' the waterfalls where you are going. See what's there, what sort of shots people have taken, and see what really attracts you to a certain shot. Then we can work to emulating that one shot that 'speaks' to you.

yes that is what it is Tiff it has image stabilazation and what I took all my picutres on till this week

ok. from what I've seen when I googled the manual for your camera I would suggest you put the camera on sports mode and use the image stabiliser as well. We are going to attempt to freeze the water in the waterfall.

to have a practise run the tap in your sink so its a slow flow or your shower head on fast and shoot a few images to have a look. Try some with flash and without flash. And same when out there with the waterfalls. Try some with flash and without.

If there is an interesting rock within the waterfall that the water runs around focus in tight on it and the water for a few shots (with and without flash). Then pull your zoom back and fit in as much of the waterfall as possible to give it a sense of place so it nots just any waterfall anywhere. Be aware of where the sun is in the camera. Dont shoot straight into it as all the details you want will darken as the sun will fool the camera's exposure settings. try having the sun off on one shoulder for a bit of side lighting. Of course this totally depends on the terrain. And find out what direction the falls face, N, S, E , W. as this will give you an idea of what time of day it should be in the light, not in shadow.

Move around and try different angles and you can kneel down, lie down or stand up on something for a different view.

be aware of the moisture in the air. Take a very clean cloth in a snap lock back and carefully wipe the lens of the camera to wipe off any moisture marks that will wreck your shot.

and google images the place for sure, so you can get your eye in.

thanks so much Tiff As you could see I couldn't get many different shots but the view from the platform was quiet good of the main part of the falls. I should have tired to zoom in on part of the falls more maybe next time its not that far from the town where I shop and now I know the roads are sealed I might try and go again soon if the weather plays nice there is another falls not far from there but I don't think the access would be any good for me but I hope to go see there as well
