...But more of a "printing" question.

I usually print at Harvey Norman or Big W etc. and I need to print out 9 photos reduced in size (about 3 inches high) for one of this months' scrapjacked challenges.

Is there a way of doing this? I don't really want to print them full size and then cut them, because I'm going to loose too much of the image.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Christine

this is why I bought a printer I was happy to scrap photos from! If your local store is reasonably quiet, you could ask the photo-counter assistant for help. I have used one machine where it was possible to make the "crop space" bigger than the photo, if you get my drift. However, it was haphazard for achieving a particular size. Good luck!

Christine you can print 2 or 4 photos on a 6x4 at harvey norman and other sizes to but they recently put up there price so its a bit more costly

Just another perspective:
I use my own epsom printer and only use photo ink in it with epsom paper. ITs more expensive ink to use, but I can size what I want and only print the photos I want at anytime so dont have to wait to visit HN like I used to. It's more convenient.

Thanks Ladies - I used to print some photos from home to but I've seen some at my parent's house that have faded. I might head out and get some more ink and paper today and have a play around. I have 2 printers - one of them would have to be ok to use!

Ok I bawlked at the cost of ink and just bought black :-P

But good news is that you can do "mini prints" at Harvey Norman & Big W. Both are 6 x 4 and you can choose 2, 4 or 6 prints per page.

The ones at Harvey Norman fit the pics side by side without a gap, while the ones at Big W have a white border around each.

I set up all mine at Harvey Norman only to find when I went to the counter that they're having issues with the mini prints since their software upgrade! So I had to go to Big W anyway.

But they still only cost the same as a regular 6 x 4 (12 cents at Harvey Norman) so I'm happy I've learnt how to use it!

That's great news that you can get the smaller ones at HN and BigW now. I never printed at home before, but when I started using the smaller pics more often and was printing only those ones at home, I found how convenient it was to print them myself so do pretty much mostly home printed ones of all sizes now.

Dial up Gypsy? I don't think I could survive :-S And I can't believe that they've put the prices up so much in one go!

I have an Epson Cx3900 printer at home and the ink seems to be getting more expensive... maybe because it's an "older" model?

I will look into printing from home again in the future though, especially if the prices go up here too!

The ink is a horrible price no matter old/new printers Christine, but I guess in a way if you only print what you need at home when you needed (which is pretty much what I do) as opposed to printing a heap of photos at HN or BW (which is what I used to do) just in case I need them, - it may balance itself out or be cheaper

Christine. I've only just spotted your question. So sorry about that.

Rabbit used to print 2 shots on a 6x4 inch (like HN) do and it was called a mobile print. Do snapfish do the same.

I get all my shots done at the lab. I just find it quicker if I set it up at home (photoshop) and get them all done in one hit while I'm down in Lincoln (an hour away). I'm lucky enough that I have scrappy friends pick them up for me 2 days later for the cheaper price and pass them to me on my weekly scrap night in Lincoln. It's just my way and I know it doesn't suit everyone, but I do like the quality of the lab pics as opposed to what my printer spits out.

Christine. are you using Photoshop by chance?

Hi Tiff - no worries the other ladies were more than helpful and I managed to get some help from the lady at Harvey Norman (I snuck in on a weekday when it was quiet!). I used the "6 to a sheet" sized ones for this month's "Scrap Jacked" layout, and I made some 2 to a sheet" for my "KIU" layout.

I'm using Picasa - I don't know a lot about the settings, most of the time I just make a copy of my digital file once I've uploaded it, then fiddle around until it looks right to me. Why do you ask?
