I've made this little 2012 desk calendar for my scrap room using a pizza box base and 2 sheets of CratePaper Portrait collection June and some yummy Tim Holtz inks and stains to enhance my project.

Image

Firstly cut a piece of thick cardboard 14 1/2" x 9" and score it at 1 1/2", 6 1/2", 11 1/2" and fold along the score lines.
Image

Lay the cardboard on the back of the 12x12 patterned paper and mark the fold lines and width of the card base. (the patterned paper won't go right to the ends so just centre it).
Image

I've made a cut into the patterned paper to the line marking the sides of the card base but looking back I would have been better to take out a wedge (V) shape instead of just one slice. Fold along the fold lines on the patterned paper.

Glue the 12x12 patterned paper to the cardboard base folding in under the sides (you can see here why a V shape cut would have been better and would give a much neater finish if you were making this for a gift.
Image
then glue the 2 end flaps over each other and because the patterned paper doesn't meet underneath I have covered the base with some cardstock.
Image

I've cut the 12 months from the other piece of CratePaper, distressed the edges and I've gone around the edges with Tim Holtz distress stain (peeled paint). Punch holes either side of the month and put in the dates for next year.

I've cut a piece of corrugated card 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" and roughly painted with gesso and run the Tim Holtz ink pad (Rusty Hinge) over the top of the corrugations. Centre one of the calendar pages over this and mark for 2 punched holes.
Image

Thread some string through the holes made in the month pages and through the corrugated card and tie up in bows.

Glue the back of the corrugated card (or attach with some tape so it can be removed the following year and add new months if you want to keep your base) to your calendar base and decorate.
Image
I've sanded around the edges of the calendar and cut flowers from CratePaper portrait collection (bouquet) and doodled in white pen roughly around them.
I've dabbed Tim Holtz Peeled Paint distress stain over these AC thickers.
