Ok most of you who know my work know I love to play with all sorts of techniques and each month I will be endeavoring to learn something new and then teach it to you guys - this month is some great techniques with ink - you wont get to see my whole layout just yet but here is a sample of what we are going to play with this week.

Image

What you will need:

Patterned Paper - I used the reverse side of WRMK-61606 -
We R Memory Keepers - Anthologie - Paper - Potpouri http://www.scraptherapy.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=WRMK-61606

Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads - I have used Crushed Olive and Forest Moss - you can find a choice of colours here http://www.scraptherapy.com.au/products.php?cat=356&pg=2

A branch style stamp or similar - ST don't currently have the Tim Hotlz one I have used but this one from Prima would work also http://www.scraptherapy.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=555030

Image

To achieve the two tone stamping of the grass/branch stamp.....

first ink your chosen stamp with the lighter of the two inks all over ( Crushed Olive)
Image

Then ink straight over the top with the darker colour, ( Forest Moss) in smaller areas, being careful not to cover all of the lighter colour..

Image

Then stamp as usual.

And the finished result

Resist Butterflies

To colour the butterfly i used the following ingredients - the same Tim Holtz Inks as above , a bottle of water and some Prima Resist Canvas

I find it works best with Tim Holtz Distress ink - because of the reactive properties it has when sprayed with water.

Image

First take your two inks and use your finger to ink first with the lighter colour
on some areas of the resist piece

Image

then ink the remaining areas with the darker colour ( not like i did in my photos, i went dark to light ink)

Image

when all of your resist piece is covered with the ink, spray with a small amount of water to blend the inks and cover the resist piece entirely

Image

You will then have a perfectly matched canvas resist embellishment to match in with the colour scheme of your layout!

I hope you enjoyed my little tutorials

Love it Karen! I can see that I'm going to start using my distress inks more in the future! You know I bought them when I first got back into craft and I really haven't been using them for much other than inking the edges of my projects

Very cool idea...Looks like I'll need to invest in some of those inks so I can experiment.
