Do you refrain from misting on your layout because it makes your paper or cardstock curl????

Fear no more.

There IS a simple, easy, quick and no mess solution.

All you need is a Laminator. An A4 laminator will fit 8.5 width LO's and an A3 Laminator will fit the 12 inch LO's.

And with it being the end of the financial year, most newsagents and stationary shops will have office supplies, including laminators, on sale for a very good price. (you don't need the laminating pouches for this process).

I'll explain the steps with pictures. (funny that)
1. Turn on your Laminator to the heat setting.

2. Mist your paper/cardstock and let it curl. I usually give a blast with a heat gun to dry it quicker and heat set the mica, but this always results in a very pronounced curl. If you hold the paper/cardstock on an angle from the surface, it shouldn't curl as much. The heat ends to 'pass through' the paper/card rather than get trapped underneath it.

3. Carefully insert the paper/cardstock. The 8.5 inch wide paper/card will only just fit, so be sure to insert it straight. If it's fed in on a slight angle, by the time its coming out the back of the laminator the front edge will be getting crushed. If it does go in crooked, turn off the machine and there is usually a lever/button you can press so you can manually remove the document.

4. Run the paper/card thru the Laminator 2 to 3 times to really straighten the curl.

Viola. All done. And it is as simple and as quick as that.

You can achieve the same result by simply ironing your paper/cardstock and placing it under a heavy book until the paper cools. I'd iron it between the folds of a towel and against a hard surface.

Good Tip Tiff

I dont have a laminater but if you heat set the glimmermist put it under something really heavy while it is still hot - and the better quality paper you start with the less curling you will have - I love misting on MME/Authentique papers - the really thick absorbent ones - you get a whole different effect

Great tip Tiff - I might borrow the laminator from work to have a play ;-)

I do know what you mean about the papers Lee-Anne - I used Authentique for the first time at Danni's class and it was unlike anything else I'd used before.
