Hi Guys, ready for some fun?? Let's jump right in then... This is what your finished layout will look like.. ( minus little fisherman giggle) ![]() Prep Step 1. Included in your kit will be two die cut chipboard gears, I've painted these with two layers of gesso. If you don't have gesso, you can use any white acrylic paint. Then set them aside to dry. ![]() Prep Step 2. Take the Authentique Fresh - Crisp paper out of your kit, i have used the reverse side, with the stripes and cut two pieces, I have then sewn around them very close to the edge with my sewing machine, this is completely optional, you could doodle around them with a pen if you like, or sewn around them by hand if you don't have a sewing machine handy, or even leave the sewing out all together. Cut two pieces of the Crisp Paper with the stripes going vertical (up and down) as follows: Piece 1: 7 inches wide by 7&3/4 inches long. Piece 2: 8 inches wide by 3&3/4 inches long. ![]() I have also sewn a border around my white card stock. I've sewn around it three times once again very close to the edge, but this is once again completely optional. Prep Step 3 . Cut and keep the bottom information strip of the bottom of one of your sheets of paper.. ( the piece with the info about the paper brand, name etc) Putting together the layout. Step 1. Place your white card stock down on your work surface. Take your piece of Authentique Fresh - Clean paper and cut four pieces out of it. 2 pieces - 2 inches wide by 6&3/4 long ( the blue pattern side) 2 pieces - 3&3/4 inches wide by 3 inches long ( the criss cross pattern side) Stick these down on to your cardstock using double sided tape or glue as follows: Piece 1 (Top of page) - Criss Cross piece, 1&1/4 inches from the right hand side, and 2 inches from the top of your card stock. Piece 2 - (Bottom of Page) - Criss Cross pattern, 2&3/4 inches from the left hand side and 1&1/2 inches from the bottom of your card stock Piece 3 - Blue pattern piece, stick this down 2&1/2 inches from the left hand side, and 2 inches from the top of your card stock. Piece 4 - Blue pattern piece, stick this down 1 inch from the right hand side, and 1&1/2 inches from the bottom of your card stock. it should look like this.. ![]() Step 2. Take the larger of your Authentique Fresh - Crisp stripe pieces that we had sewn around earlier, place this down next. Run the stripes up and down. I have used foam squares to raise the layer a little, to give it a bit of dimension, however if you prefer your layout flatter then leave stick it down with doublesided tape. Stick this piece down 3 inches from the left and 2&1/2 inches from the top. ![]() Step 3. Cut a piece of Authentique Fresh - Pure 6&1/2 inches long by 2&1/2 inches wide. I have used the text side, please make sure your text is the right way before you cut. Stick this down on top of your stripe piece with double sided tape. This piece is 3&1/2 inches from the left hand side and 3 inches from the top. Your layout should now look like this.. ![]() Step 4. Next stick your smaller piece of Authentique Fresh - Crisp stripe paper down with the stripes running horizontal, once again using foam squares if you like some dimension to your layout. This piece is stuck down 2&1/2 inches from the left hand side of your cardstock, and evenly on top of the vertical stripe paper so there is just a little bit overlapping at the top and bottom . Your layout should now look like this. ![]() Step 5. From your Authentique Fresh - Pure cut four pieces of the square pattern. Each piece should be two squares like this... ![]() arrange these on your layout like so.. when you place your photo on top they should look like this.. I have used a 6 x 4 photo. ![]() ![]() When you have it arranged so you are happy with it, stick your pieces and photo both down. When you stick your photo and strips down, leave it unstuck on the top right corner and bottom left corner, we will be slipping our gears in under the photo very soon. Cut two pieces of the blue tassel trim, each one should be 3 inches long, Stick them down in the spaces at the top and bottom of your layout, I have used double sided tape to stick mine down, and slipped them in a little under the vertical stripe piece. ![]() Step 6. Next is our title, This will work better with a 2 word title.. Using the first word of your title and the canvas die cut letter, (there is one letter of each included in your kit however if you need 2 "l"'s for example it is easy to make a second by cutting a piece of your "k" - stick your letters spelling out your word on the bottom left on your photo, Slightly overlapping both your photo and pattern paper as shown. (sorry for the terrible pictures) ![]() Using the letters on the Authentique Fresh sticker sheet spell out your second word of your tittle and stick it down over the top of your canvas word as shown... ![]() Step 8 The final embellishments.. taking your gears that we painted earlier, slip one in at under your photo and paper strips at the top right and bottom left of your photo and stick them into position, you can play with these a little and have as much of as little as you like showing. ![]() Using the bottom info strip of one of your pieces of paper, cut the quote of the bottom and cut a small piece out of it to make a small banner as show, this then will become a little quote to stick on our layout. ![]() To finish the top gear embellishment cluster, arrange and stick your three red star buttons in a vertical line on top of your gear, one should overlap onto your photo, then stick your quote banner on top of the stars and gear using foam squares. Stick the small fishing ticket sticker from your sticker sheet as shown down as shown ![]() For the bottom gear cluster, take out your small fish embellishment and blue stars , I took the small foam dot off the middle of the fish and replaced it with a new foam square, then arranged the two blue star buttons and stuck the to the back of the fish with a strong glue like this. ![]() I then stuck it on top of the gear at the bottom left. The foam square and a bit of extra double sided tape should be enough to hold it in place. ![]() Then using the red twine in the kit, make a small tangled loop of twine and stick it down beside your fish and gear ( i used about 10cm of twine..) and place the fresh air postage stamp on top. I stuck the postage stamp sticker down using foam squares as well. ![]() and we are just about done, the last elements I've added is from the sticker sheet. Take the small anchor date tag and thread some red twine through the hole. This can then be used to place a date on your layout. I have stuck this down using foam squares as well, on the right hand side just under my title. ![]() and that's it your done, I hope you aren't totally confused.. If you're stuck and need help. just give me a yell, and I'll see what i can do to help you out. |

This is a great male layout, I might have to leave off the cute fish for my 50 something husband or maybe I'll find a cute nephew to scrap. Is there a short cut to where the kits are in the shop? It would be helpful for those of us who spend too much money browsing in the shop. |

It looks wonderful Karen and thank you so much for using inches in your measurements! I never used them until I started scrapping (and the paper trimmer I picked up was in inches - I didn't realise until I got home!). Can't wait to have a play with this - the colours look soft enough to use for a little girl's page too (maybe without the gears)... |

Do you want us to load these in the gallery? - Mine probably won't look anything like this anyway.. |
