At the moment Project Life and other similar concepts seem to be taking some of the scrapbooking world by storm..

So what is project Life I hear you say.. basically it's a simplified way to document your everyday life , week by week or month by month using pictures, journal cards and other bits and bobs..

This week I'd love to show you how i used some of my stash to make a weekly layout for Project Life, and a little challenge....

First up the "Just for Fun" challenge I have for you this week is to use a current photo (no more than one month old) with some of your old stash. It does not have to be in the PL style however you should give this a go, it is a really quick and easy way to get your photos into an album and scrap them while you still remember what they are about

Image

If you're anything like me, you have dies, and border punches sitting and not being used, well now is the time to get them out , dust them off and have a play.

First things first, You'll need some divided sleeves for your layout, We R Memory Keepers have a great 10 pack, with 9 different layout style dividers in them, So I've started with one of those

Image

If you keep the packaging that they come in, you'll have a handy reference to the sizes of the pockets in each sleeve, just match out your layout with the pictures and sizes.

Next I've gone through my paper and picked out a few pieces, and journaling cards from the gorgeous Prima Zephyr range, along with some white card stock, and cut these to the sizes of three of the pockets in my sleeve these become our base pieces, now comes the time to make them a bit more interesting...

Using my die cutting machine, I die cut a couple of pieces of my chosen paper, a tattered banner , cut my journal cards in half and arranged those onto my base pieces and stuck them down. I've also cut the butterfly out of one half of one of my journal cards.

Image

My next step was to sew around all my cards, you don't have to do this, but i just like the feel it gives it.. doesn't seem finished to me with out a sewn border. I then used my corner chomper to round all the corners.

My base cards are now ready to add photos and journal on.

Next I added the photos.. I went through my weeks worth of photos , which is normally way to many, chose the ones I wanted to use, cut them to the needed size, rounded their corners as well, and stuck them down.

I then added in any last little things to just finish them off, which could be a fussy cut flower or a label sticker, or even a stamped image.

To finish the whole thing off, I stamped the month, week number and date on my title card. Put them all in the sleeve and I'm done!!

Products:

Prima - Zephyr Gramercy
Prima - Zephyr Angelus
Prima - Zephyr Parfait
Prima - Zephyr Note Cards
WRMK Corner Chomper
WRMK Photo Sleeves 10 pack
Tim Holtz Washer Border
Maya Road Milk cap stamp
Tim Holtz Tattered Banner Die - currently out of stock

Seeing as this is a 'just for fun' challenge, I'm going to offer a RAK, made by me, of some base cards to one lucky person at the end of the month, just load your entry into the Just for Fun Folder...

Aww thank you ladies, I actually had a lot of fun with this, and it's a great way to use up those off cut bits that you always seem to keep and never seem to use...

ooh, I am so tempted to do it again! Even though after one year I said never again, or not until I've retired, it really is something I could find myself committing too again. And love the We R Memory Keepers products...

me too Helen - I dont know that this needs to be approached with the photo a day concept but just this style of scrapping to get as many photos done as possible would be great

I do like that it is a kind of a journal - and makes all those photos accessible that otherwise you might not bother with. It also made me take photos of things that seemed very ordinary, but are a great record of something in your life - a street or road sign, the view from the desk at work, the inside of the council bus!

However, I'm sticking with my "no new things this year" while I continue to get the old photos out of nasty albums and finish scrapping photos from Mum. Next year though...

I do Project Life, and I do month by month! It's a great way to preserve those everyday memories that don't really need a full scrap page and also for mums who have little time this is an amazing creative way for us to record our child's life and it allows you to incorporate all their art work and bits and bobs etc
