Gypsy.

Keep the one or two Hero shots from each folder you have chick, and ditch the rest. It might as well be junk mail filling up your hard drive. If you are unlikely to print it or scrap it, chuck it.

Be harsh and purge.

Julez. you got one day left to give it another crack. now that you have an idea of how to get it, try another shot. See if you can better yourself. You have till midnight on the 31st to enter it.

go for it.

Gypsy.
Find the make and model number of it and google it.

The answer is out there, you just need to search a bit for it.

HIya shutterbugs.

You can load up your pics in this thread if you want them critiqued if you like and then place your one best one in the gallery to be judged That way other people can learn about the same issues that you faced and we all can learn from each other.

theapol.
yep. you are spot on. the focus is off, but the subject idea is great. Even if there is a tiny puff of breeze, that will be enough to knock the focus out as the bloom is moving. Try holding the stem with your hand out of shot just to steady it if you need to.

I can just see the sunflare in the pic. Good try.

Hey there Belinda. The first one is exactly what sunflare is. Its a haze of light over part of the image. The kids had fun didnt they!!!

The second shot is more like rim lighting. The hair is light up from behind and glows like a halo. If you were able to move yourself or the camera so the sun is just out of the shot then you would probably have achieved the sunflare. (easier to move you than three kids!!!!)

And as a tip to keep in mind for next year with the canola, try to get the kids in it or in front of it before its too tall. Otherwise all you see is a lot of green stalks and very little of the golden flowers. Or stand the kids on hay bales!!

you've done well!!

t :)

Radish is such a pesky weed. We have it here too. :(

do you have any ceral crops (wheat, barley) try getting the kids all in red tops (red being the opposite of green on the colour wheel so one pops the other) and have a go.

just a thought
