Julez. with point shoot cameras, try the night setting and see how it goes. If you have a fireworks setting you could try that one too. It's more a matter of experimenting with your settings that you can play with.

I'd also do the same things I mentioned regarding tripoding the camera, or put it on a steady surface and using the delayed timer.


good luck with finding the right tree. I usually sit back with the camera while the kids and DH do our tree. I'm the paparazzi lol

Well I had a play around with this tonight.
Finally it got dark so I thought I'd try it out.

At first this was what I was getting. Too much light in the room and camera shake..............



It was getting late so I sent her to bed and had a play around in another room with less light and a different setting and got this...................


So I got my son out of bed {the things we do for photos } and had a play around. At first the pic was very dark around his face and I kept telling him to 'hold the lights up near your face'. Still wasn't working. Then I remembered a torch, so I used the torch to shine on his face at the right distance and got this...................

This is my fave............


But I will be playing around a lot more to get some nicer ones and some of my daughter.


Tiff, I am still learning my new camera {canon 60D} and am trying to work out how to change the fstops etc. It's been a long while since I had to change them and they were on a 35mm film camera and had a dial on the back. Digital I am finding it hard to locate things.

just letting you know that the folder to load up your pics is now live here (sorry about the fact that it wasn't before now).

And I think that loading up only one pic is just too restricting...... so lets say up to 3 of your best pics can be entered to be in a chance for the Scrap Therapy voucher.

I'm sure as we head through December your pics will start flowing in as there is just so much out there to do. Don't forget Christmas lights on homes, Christmas Carollers, we have a local Trader's night that is a street procession with the big fella bringing up the rear of all the floats. Our local footy club has a Christmas Tree night, where HE drops in bearing small gifts and listens to the last minute requests. Our local crafty ladies are holding a Crafty Christmas fair in the next 2 days and we have the most amazing Christmas Wonderland display in our RSL hall for the next 4 weeks. some pics of it here on my blog.

So much shutter candy out there.

on the back is the button that has -/+ symbol on it. Press that as was well as scroll wheel at the same time and that should change your fstop.

Tiff, I have 2 buttons on the back. ONe is the negative and one is the positive. Are they the ones?
If I use the negative one it changes but only goes down to 2"5 5.0
I'm confused!
