BW is awesome for landscapes. you can strip the distraction of colour and then you can the real details.

:O)

great clouds get me going, in case you hadn't noticed

Hey Julze. are you able to lighten the BW's a tad. They are quite dark. esp the almond (?) blossom. Those petals should be quite brilliant but not quite full on white. (Dont want those pesky burn out or hot spots. )

I'm wondering what program you've used to see if there is another way to convert to BW. And which way did you do it for these ones.

Those blossoms look really well shot by the way.

I would like to challenge you Julez to do a selfie of yourself, BW it and use it as your avatar. Don't hold the camera too close otherwise parts of you will be exaggerated (like an ear or a nose for example.) Pull the zoom back a bit and then crop into the shot with your software after. Give yourself some room to 'breathe' within the shot.

can't wait to see what else you pop up here!!!!!!!!

tiff :)

Gypsy. You have done far better than you think.
First shot.
You have strong darker colours and clean lighter colours in your original colour image. Am I right? The BW treatment has given you rich blacks (shadows in the rock wall which gives the rocks dimension and shape. The scrub in the background contrasts well against the lighter sky. You've thought of the foreground interest (wall) the middle distance (paddock and trees) and the background (clouds in the sky). About all I can say is that the horizon dips slightly to the left. Otherwise top stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Second shot.
My fave of the two. Clean simple lines. Strongest interest well placed on the right side of the rule of thirds. My eye travels from left to right and stops on the tree. It doesn't travel any further to the right and drop off the page. The fence is what leads my eye into the shot. Mate. This is an awesome shot. BW done pretty well too. It can be so easy to blow the clouds and sky and create the white hot spots, and I can only spot 3 little ones, which means you've retained a lot of the detail in the sky.

This shot is your best one I've seen you post since Shutter Therapy started. You've taken on board a lot of the info and converted it into better shots for yourself. Well done. **insert applause**

tiff
