Fabulous work Gypsy! I love both of them. Both have such a peaceful feel to them.
The second one I can imagine as an oil painted landscape!

I love your photos Gypsy! WTG!

Tiff..I have ACDsee that I use for photo editing. I hate taking pics of myself. Don't like what I see I guess.

me 3. I do prefer to be behind the lens, not in front of it. But for the sake of the kids I do get in front of it, on the occasion.

not a BW but a way to get in the action is to put the camera on tripod and use a remote or the timer button. (and hiding myself behind my son  )

taken 2 nights ago.

'With Julez's permission, I had a quick play with her almond blossom to show you the difference between 'grey scale' and BW.

Greyscale can look muddy. Like a lot of grey shades rather than strong BW contrast.

So thanks a big bunch Julez for letting me use your example. I love almond blossoms. Such a delicate flower.

the oringinal shot.
Image

after a touch of sharpening and adjusting the contrast a bit so the whites are cleaner and the blacks are darker. I've also adjusted the colour a touch so its warmer (a bit more yellow for sunshine)
Image

my BW. (I use Photoshop CS5) I've cropped a bit to lose some of the distracting background.

julez BW

Julez has vignetted hers (which I forgot to do  ) which helps to hide the unwanted branches in the background and to keep your eye in the centre of the shot.

Wow...the difference is amazing, Tiff...I see what you mean about my photo being dark. I did take the photo in the early morning and though parts of the tree was in sun, I was in the shade. The tree looks so pretty (and I got all "caught-up-in-the-moment) that I overlooked the shade

Oh ..it's a plum tree BTW.
