Our library is running a photog comp to promote literacy at the moment.
I recruited my brother's family, their yacht and my kids for this shot.
Using Picasa, I used the soft focus to give the blurred edging, the text tool for the title and used the little colour eyedropper to pull a colour out of the red book so it was the same shade of red, and used the border tool for the rounded white corner effect.
I'm happy with it. I'm about to print it for the "Shoot it, Scrap it challenge" that goes live this Friday night. 27th April.
how's it all going with you. Any questions, fire away!!

Hiya Ladies. I would just like to clarify something. Please put your before and after photos in this thread, not in the gallery. The gallery is just for the finished images, not for the 'before editing' shots. I'm noticing a few 'before' pics sneaking in there, and I'm not sure if I had clarified that enough. Sorry.
For the ladies with the unedited pics in the gallery, would you mind removing them please, as this gallery folder is the one that will be judged for the winner of the $25 voucher. Make sure your finished image is in there tho. Hope that is ok with you.

Hiya ladies, sorry for the pain with the link but it' s the only way I've worked out how to get my phone to put a photo on here. Have no problem posting to the gallery but always says invalid when I try it here. Anyway...
Here is my original photo of Caidin and her Nannie on Easter

Sarah.... I may have a solution for you. I'm wondering if you are able to load your pics into your own folder, then link them back to here. Links are ok, I can work with that, since its a bit of trick with your phone.
And then load only the comp image in the challenge gallery folder.
Does that make sense, and I'm hoping with fingers crossed, that it works for you.

By george... I think I've done it!!!!! Lol Thanks Tiff!!!
Here is my pic - original and edited. I used Picasa to crop, change to sepia, soften the lines, deepen the shaddows and put a museum mat on it. I was lucky enough to get a photo with her a few years ago when holidaying with my parents, and didn't want to push my way through the crowds this morning.
What do you think Tiff? Any suggestions?

I downloaded Picasa on Lee-Anne's recommendation when I joined the forum about a year ago, because I'd never used photo editing software before. Truth be told, I haven't actually used it for anything much other than cropping and auto fixing photos of my layouts to submit so I went through and watched the tutorials you linked before playing around with this one.
Tiff I've had this pop art inspired idea ( ) for the photo above - is there a way to stitch/combine four of the photos together to make one larger photo IYKWIM? If I was using microsoft word or publisher, I'd just import them all into the same document - do you know if you can do something similar with Picasa?

I know about as much as you do with Picasa Christine
Have you tried googling 'photomerge with Picasa' or 'panostitch with Picasa'
I'm away as of Friday morning to Sunday night at our local scrappy retreat. It's a big deal here. 80 seats booked out in 5 mins So I'll be 'out of office' until Sunday night.
